"At my interview for Littlejohn, I never felt they were trying to catch me out. They simply wanted me to do my best - and to get to know me better. The Financial Services division appealed because it specialises in the insurance market. I like the varied client base and wanted the chance to audit Lloyd's syndicates, members' agents and venture capitalists.
"As a trainee, I work for various partners. And I was also seconded to the business advisory services division for a few months, which has proven invaluable as I'm now a lot more comfortable with accounts preparation. My main job so far has been for one of our biggest syndicates. Although it required a lot of my time, I never felt overwhelmed because I had other people with me. The partners are very approachable and give me their time when I need it.
"You are offered good long-term prospects working in financial services; the exposure to the London insurance market is excellent. I'm learning so much so quickly but I've never felt pushed into anything that I didn't fully understand."
