"I wanted to study accountancy but also to work straight away. That's why the AAT was right for me. Littlejohn offered a great training programme and a competitive salary. Working full time, I can put into practice everything I learn from my studies. I also like the location - there's a lot to do in Canary Wharf.
Business advisory services suits me really well, as my aim is to progress to the ACCA and it's the only division that offers it. The people were so welcoming when I started and really made an effort to get to know me. I also like the mixture of audit work, accounts preparation and tax and the balance of working in the office and out at clients.
At the moment, my office work consists of setting up files and doing accounts preparation. If I'm at clients, I'll be undertaking junior tasks like testing fixed assets and sales and purchases. There are usually four or five of us out on a job.
I've already spent a week in Birmingham and did some work on a trading metals company. I was also seconded to financial services for six weeks to gain insurance experience and worked on a syndicate for an insurance company."
