Mark McKechnie - business advisory services, second year ACCA trainee

“Littlejohn appealed to me partly because they're medium-sized. I knew that would give me more responsibility and more contact with clients earlier on. I wanted to play a part in all aspects of an audit/accounts file and I knew they would offer me that.

“Business advisory services deals with businesses from many different sectors, mostly owner-managed. I liked the idea of being involved in day-to-day financial advice, as well as the mixture of audit and tax work that this division offers.

“I've worked on a car dealership, a travel agent and a solicitor, so it's incredibly varied and I'm learning about different industries all the time. I'm mainly doing accounts preparation - with regular reviews of my work by a manager, which means I'm guided the whole way. And, of course, focusing on passing my exams and getting qualified!

“What's really nice about the division is that they're very sociable. The mix of juniors and seniors means there's always help on hand if you need it and I've made some good friends here.”
