“The idea of working for one of the top firms in the UK, and the Canary Wharf location, particularly appealed to me. Also, as it's medium-sized, I knew I'd be given responsibility earlier on.
“The Financial Services division is well known for its services in the Lloyd's insurance market and we're one of only six firms that perform audits on Lloyd's syndicates. My clients also include insurance companies, brokers, independent financial advisors, asset management companies and private equity firms. Most are based in the City, so it's great to be operating in the world's leading financial centre.
“The division has six partners, six managers and around 25 staff. To gain enough knowledge and understanding of the sector, we are required to attend internal courses that supplement our college training. There's a lot to grasp initially but the managers are often on site to turn to for help.
“As a senior assignment leader, I'm involved in audit planning and also provide on-the-job training to junior staff. I spend most of my time at clients' offices. Typically I perform the more complex audits and then help my staff if they have any problems with their audit work. I also keep the manager or partner updated on a daily basis.”
